I gave a quick (5 minutes!) talk on using IronRuby inside .NET applications yesterday at the superb DeveloperDeveloperDeveloper community conference at Microsoft Reading

About
This is a Stack Overflow app for Windows Phone 7 – it allows you to browse, read and bookmark Stack Exchange sites
Screenshot

License
The app is available on the WP7 marketplace as a free never-ending trial – but if you want to purchase the app for 0.99 then you’ll help encourage me to add more features
Download
App is available on http://bit.ly/zuneoverflow7
Platform
Windows Phone 7 – WP7
Contact
I created the app – you can contact me via me[at]slodge[dot]com
I’d love to get feedback about what people want
Code
App is written in Silverlight-WP7 using hand-crafted MVVM (must start using a library like MVVM Light one day!)
I made use of the excellent Stacky library - link text
Versions
- 1.0 – first release
- 1.1 – major memory improvements (ListBox and VirtualizingStackPanel)
- 1.2 – a bug fix + major Markdown rendering improvements (links and images)
- 1.3 – addition of UserBadges to some displays
overflow7 – browse Stack Overflow on your WP7 phone
Here’s one of my side projects from iron7 : overflow7 – it’s a Window Phone 7 browser for Stack Overflow
Here’s a video explaining more:
WP7 Animation – ScaleTransform, SkewTransform, RotateTransform, TranslateTransform and beyond
I’ve been spending some time playing with Silverlight animations using IronRuby in iron7.
The video below describes some of the results and all the scripts produced are available on script.iron7.com
And here’s the same scripts running on a real phone
iron7 *FREE*
iron7 free – version 1.5 – is now certified for the Marketplace.
The free app has all the functionality of the full version – but occasionally it will ask you to upgrade – it’s “nagware”
Upgrading to the full version has many many advantages – especially it makes you feel better and it funds future iron7 development!
A direct link to the free app is http://social.zune.net/redirect?type=phoneApp&id=8a866ec2-461b-e011-9264-00237de2db9e
And the full version is available at: http://social.zune.net/redirect?type=phoneApp&id=10aa051d-e907-e011-9264-00237de2db9e
Also…. one warning… there’s a problem with 1.5 – so 1.6 will be following shortly!

Translate and Talk on WP7
Below is a video demo of a translation script for IronRuby on WindowsPhone7 – this script uses the Microsoft/Bing translation APIs to translate and speak the input text.
For more information see the script itself on http://script.iron7.com – look in “all scripts” then “audio” then “Translate and Talk”
iron7 can be found in Tools on the Zune marketplace – there’s a free trial available
1.3 Available Now on the Marketplace
You can get iron7 1.3 now on http://script.iron7.com for the new functionality included
Happy coding.

- A torch
- A xylophone
- A piano
Here’s a video showing them in action:
Iron7 1.3 – edit and share Ruby online
The new version of Iron7 is currently under test in the Marketplace.
The exciting new features of the version are:
- integration with http://script.iron7.com – allowing you to share and edit scripts online
- improved debugging messages – with improved syntax and runtime errors
- additional functions exposed – especially for sound effects.
- some new samples – including Snake and Tetris games
