Beyond Iron7…
Iron7 was just the start!
Since Iron7, I’ve recently been working with Jurassic – http://jurassic.codeplex.com – and we now also have javascript running on WP7.1
Also… this scripting has formed the basis of quite a lot of the work behind https://github.com/Expensify/WindowsPhoneTestFramework

Iron7 becomes Open Source in IronRuby…
I’ve finally started to checkin Iron7 to a branch of the IronRuby source – something I’ve been promising since December!
It’s currently uploaded to… https://github.com/slodge/main
Hopefully soon it will be pulled across to the main source tree at https://github.com/ironlanguages/main
Remember if you like Iron7, then please like and comment for us at http://www.wp7comp.com/iron7 – thanks.
Thanks for the reviews
SoloSailor46 just left this superb review of Iron7:
Scripting comes to WP7
I’m not happy about paying $99 a year so that I can write my own apps for my phone – IronRuby is an excellent alternative (even though I don’t know Ruby yet) Fortunately there are plenty examples to learn from. Iron7 supports the Windows Phone controls (such as panorama) as well as other compact framework features.
Pros: Object Oriented scripting for the windows phone, integration with an online scripting library
Cons: None
Thanks
Also if anyone wants to support iron7, then please leave us positive feedback at:
– winning $10000 would definitely help fund more development – thanks again!
A new short intro video
Here’s a shorter intro video – one that fits inside the 3 minute requirement for wp7comp.
If you like the app, please do vote for Iron7 over on wp7comp – any money won will help fund further development!
Developing an IronRuby app for WP7
Here’s a couple of links to some other developers who have recently tried writing some Ruby on Windows Phone 7:
Justin James recently got his feet wet with IronRuby, and he was eager to use it in a real-world scenario. Find out what this Ruby novice thinks of using IronRuby to write a Windows Phone 7 application.
See http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/smartphones/use-ironruby-to-develop-a-windows-phone-7-app/2257
And:
In this post I just gonna go through how to get windows 7 phone up and running with ironruby, most are taken from Tomas Matousek but I had to make some customization for it to work!

iron7 talk at ddd9
